Girls Need R&B: Empowering Black Women Through Music

Four friends hugging and smiling in a group. The background is a dark maroon with pink geometrical wireframe shapes.

Founded by Khemie Medina in 2022, Girls Need R&B addresses the underrepresentation of Black women in R&B. Centered on Galentine’s Day, it features live performances, art, and food by Black female artists, offering emerging talent visibility and fair pay.

Themes: Blending nostalgic and modern R&B, past themes include "Ode to 2000s" and "I Am Just A Girl." We connect with Black women aged 18-46 who cherish music, fashion, and culture.

Why It Matters: Girls Need R&B provides safe spaces for Black women to heal, celebrate, and empower each other, tackling community challenges while supporting growth in music.

Support Us: Funding fuels our mission to uplift artists and foster lasting community impact.
